Crab Cake Sandwich

The Crab Cake Sandwich features lightly broiled lump and canned crabmeat bound with breadcrumbs, parsley, spices, and mayonnaise. The patties are cooked under a broiler until lightly browned, then served on buttered, toasted brioche buns with lettuce, tomato, and a mayonnaise spread. This sandwich balances delicate crab flavor with crisp exterior and soft bun.

Description

This Crab Cake Sandwich is prepared by blending fresh and canned lump crabmeat with bread crumbs, parsley, kosher salt, black pepper, and an egg. Mayonnaise and dry mustard are mixed in to bind the ingredients and provide moisture. The formed patties are broiled on a greased pan until lightly browned, delivering a crisp yet tender texture.

The crab cakes are served on brioche buns brushed with butter and toasted to add richness and slight crunch. Each sandwich is assembled with a layer of butter lettuce, slices of fresh tomato, and a mayonnaise spread to complement the crab without overpowering its delicate seafood taste.

The combination of lightly crisp crab cake crust with the soft bun and fresh vegetables results in layered textures and a balanced, savory flavor profile. The use of both fresh and canned crabmeat gives a nuanced taste and makes good use of available crab varieties.
