BBQ Beef Sloppy Joes

BBQ Beef Sloppy Joes feature ground beef cooked with diced onions and combined with a saucy mixture of tomatoes, beef broth, ketchup, barbecue sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. The filling is thick and tangy, served hot on toasted brioche buns and topped with shredded cheddar cheese. This creates a juicy, richly flavored sandwich with a combination of smoky and sweet elements.

Description

This recipe starts by browning ground beef and diced onions until the meat has some texture with small chunks remaining to avoid a uniform mince. Diced tomatoes, beef broth, ketchup, barbecue sauce, and Worcestershire sauce are added and cooked down until the sauce reduces and thickens, resulting in the classic “sloppy†consistency.

The toasted brioche buns offer a soft, slightly sweet contrast to the savory and smoky beef mixture. Topping with shredded cheddar cheese adds creaminess and sharpness, complementing the sauced meat filling.

BBQ Beef Sloppy Joes make a fulfilling and casual meal option suitable for gatherings or family dinners, providing easy assembly and flavorful satisfaction.

  • 1 yellow onion diced
  • 14.5 ounces diced tomatoes drained
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 6 Brioche buns toasted
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet add the beef and onions, cooking well, breaking it apart but leaving some chunks for 5-6 minutes.
  2. Add in the canned diced tomatoes, beef broth, ketchup, bbq sauce and Worcestershire sauce, cooking until the sauce starts to evaporate and the mixture becomes "sloppy" (about 5-6 minutes).
  3. Spoon the mixture onto the brioche buns and top with shredded cheddar cheese.
