How to Blanch Almonds - Blanched Almonds Recipe
Description
The recipe offers two blanching methods: soaking raw, unsalted almonds in water overnight allows skins to loosen naturally, while briefly boiling almonds for 1–2 minutes causes the skins to wrinkle and separate. After soaking or boiling, the almonds are drained and rinsed in cold water, then gently squeezed to remove skins. Placed on a sheet pan lined with paper towels, they dry before use.
Blanched almonds can be roasted by spreading them evenly on a baking sheet and baking at 350°F (175°C) for 10–15 minutes, turning every 5 minutes, until they develop a light golden color. Cooling after roasting ensures crispness. This technique enhances flavor while providing smooth almonds for recipes that require skinless nuts.
