- 1 beef tongue approximately 3.5 pounds
- 2 teaspoon olive oil
- 1 inch fresh ginger
- 5 talks scallions wash and trim
- 5-6 cloves garlic
- 1/2 medium onion sweet or yellow
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 3 star anise
- 4 cloves
- 1 cup water*
- 3 tablespoons molasses*
- 1 tablespoon salt*
- 2 cups water to cover the tongue
- 1/4 cup rice wine

- *If not allergic to soy, use 1 cup soy sauce instead of 1 cup water, molasses, and salt.
