Ingredients
- 16 ounces fully-cooked Italian sausage links, or any fully cooked sausage links
- 16 ounces penne pasta
- 4 cups chicken broth, or water
- 1 (24-ounce) jar marinara sauce
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and spray a 9x13x2-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
- Slice 16 ounces fully-cooked Italian sausage links, into ¼-inch thick rounds and place the sausage disks in the bottom of the baking dish with the uncooked 16 ounces penne pasta.
- Pour 4 cups chicken broth, 1 (24-ounce) jar marinara sauce, 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning, and salt and pepper to taste over the sausage and pasta. Stir to combine.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove the foil and stir the casserole. If the noodles aren’t cooked through yet, add more broth or water, stir, cover, and cook for five more minutes.
- When the noodles are cooked and tender, top the casserole with 1 cup shredded parmesan cheese and 1 cup mozzarella cheese and bake uncovered for an additional 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let the casserole rest for at least 5 minutes before serving.
