Keto Sugar-Free Hot Chocolate
Description
Keto Sugar-Free Hot Chocolate combines unsweetened almond milk and creamy coconut cream as its base, enriched with cocoa powder for chocolate flavor and collagen or whey protein powder for added nutritional support. The allulose sweetener keeps it sugar-free while vanilla extract and a pinch of sea salt enhance the depth of flavor. The mixture is heated gently, then blended to produce a light froth, resulting in a thick but smooth drink suitable for keto diets.
The resulting drink balances the mild nuttiness of almond milk with the rich cocoa taste, lifted by creamy coconut and protein elements. It is prepared by warming ingredients and then blending them thoroughly for even mixing and frothiness, ideal for a comforting warm beverage.
This hot chocolate is served best in a 250 ml cup to hold the frothy texture. It suits someone looking for a sweet, low-carb warm drink without traditional sugar, providing a satisfying chocolate flavor with added protein support.
A powder mix combining heavy cream or coconut milk powder, cocoa powder, and powdered sweetener can be pre-made and stored up to three months, allowing quick preparation by adding hot almond milk. This makes the recipe practical for regular use or larger quantity prep.
Ingredients
- ¾ cup almond milk 180ml, unsweetened
- 1 tablespoon coconut cream or heavy cream
- 1 ½ tablespoon cocoa powder 9g
- 2 tablespoon collagen powder 14g, or whey protein powder, grass-fed
- 1 teaspoon allulose or more, to taste
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- pinch salt sea salt
Instructions
- Heat the almond milk and coconut cream in a saucepan or in the microwave (90 seconds on high).
- Pour into a jug, add the collagen, cocoa powder, sweetener, salt and vanilla. Blend with an immersion blender until frothy. Alternatively, blend in a high speed blender or whisk vigorously with a balloon whisk until the mix has dissolved).
Notes
- The recipe yields one serving, and a 250 ml cup is recommended to accommodate the froth.
- To simplify preparation, consider making a dry mix with cream powder, cocoa powder, and sweetener to store in a jar for up to three months.
- Use allulose or adjust sweetener to taste to keep the drink sugar-free and keto-friendly.
