This is a recipe for homemade kourabiedes greek butter cookies, these deliciously sweet buttery Greek snowball cookies are soft cookies with a crunchy texture that melts in your mouth. Kourabiedes are traditional Greek cookies made with ground walnuts, butter, flour, vanilla, and icing sugar. These cookies are popular during the Orthodox festive season, they are also a popular treat for parties and weddings.

Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1 cups Sweet Butter room temp
- 1/2 cup walnuts ground
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 confectioners sugar powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon brandy
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C), and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Add the butter into a mixing bowl and beat on medium-high speed until light and fluffy.
- Gradually add the confectioner sugar and vanilla extract, and beat until the mixture is combined.
- In two separate additions, add the flour and mix into the butter mixture until the flour is moistened. Then add the ground walnut and fold it into the mixture.
- Scoop small amounts of batter, about 1 teaspoon, and form into balls.
- Place the formed cookies onto a lined baking sheet, and separate each cookie about 1 inch apart from each other.
- Place the baking pan into the oven and bake for 16-18 minutes or until golden in color.
- Remove the Greek butter cookies from the oven and immediately coat them with powdered sugar (confectioners sugar).
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- You will need about 2 cups of powdered sugar to coat the cookies.
