Ingredients
For the rim of the glass:
- 1 tablespoon cane sugar
- 1 teaspoon lime zest
- 1 wedge of fresh lime to wet the rim of the glass
For the mint flavored simple syrup:
- 5 leaves of fresh mint
- ¼ lime cut into small wedges as seen in the video
- 2 ounces of lime juice preferably freshly squeezed
- 1 ounce of Powell & Mahoney Simple Syrup
For the drink:
- ½ cup of crushed ice
- 2 ounces of vodka
- 1 ounce of orange liquor such as Cointreau or Grand Marnier
- lime twist as garnish optional
Instructions
- For the rim of the martini glass: Mix together sugar and lime zest in a small flat plate. Wet the rim of a martini glass using the lime wedge. Dip into the sugar and lime zest mixture. Place the glass into the freezer as you make the drink.
- To make the mint flavored simple syrup: Place fresh mint leaves and lime wedges in a large glass. Pour in the lime juice and simple syrup. Muddle until they are all combined*.
- To make the drink: Place the ice, vodka, and orange liquor in a shaker. Strain the simple syrup mixture. Put the lid on and shake for 40 seconds. Take out the martini glass out of the freezer and pour the drink into the glass. Garnish with a lime twist, if preferred. Serve immediately.
Notes
- * Ideally, I would recommend doing this in advance, as it will have more of a potent and minty flavor as it sits.
