Magic Sea Buckthorn Tea

Magic Sea Buckthorn Tea is a warm beverage made by muddling fresh sea buckthorn berries with cinnamon sticks and steeping the mixture in boiling water. The tea is strained and sweetened with honey for a subtly spiced, tart drink.

Description

This tea features sea buckthorn berries, which provide a bright and tangy component along with cinnamon for warmth. The berries are gently crushed to release their juice before steeping, which encourages infusion of their distinctive citrusy notes into the hot water.

The resulting tea is a delicate balance of tartness from the berries and mild sweetness and spice from honey and cinnamon. It is served warm and can be a soothing beverage to enjoy on cooler days or as a tasty herbal infusion.

Unlike heavy or strongly flavored teas, this preparation emphasizes the natural berry flavors enhanced by subtle cinnamon aromatic qualities and sweetened just enough to smooth acidity. It offers a unique alternative to traditional fruit teas.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 100 grams or 3.5 oz sea buckthorn fresh
  • 2 ticks cinnamon
  • 500 ml or 2 cups water boiling
  • 2 teaspoons honey

Instructions

  1. Wash the sea buckthorn berries and discard any broken ones. Transfer to a tea can and muddle the berries with a pestle until the juice is released. Add cinnamon sticks. Pour boiling water into the tea can and let rest for 5 minutes. Strain and serve with a teaspoon of honey per cup. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Use only fresh, unbroken sea buckthorn berries to avoid bitterness and maximize flavor.
  • The cinnamon sticks enhance warmth but don't overpower the bright berry tartness.
  • Honey is added after steeping to gently sweeten the tea without masking sea buckthorn's natural flavor.
  • Sea buckthorn oil is also available as a supplement if interested in internal or external use related to this berry.
