Maple Pecan Bars

Maple Pecan Bars are created with a delicious shortbread crust, and topped with a maple pecan pie filling. Similar to pecan pie, but in the form of squares!

Ingredients

Shortbread Crust

  • ½ Cup powdered sugar
  • Cup flour
  • 9 tbsp unsalted butter
  • tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Pecan Pie Filling

  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter softened
  • Cup maple syrup
  • Cup light brown sugar packed
  • Cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 Cup coarsely chopped pecans

Maple Glaze

  • 1 Cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • ¾ tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp heavy whipping cream
  • ½ Cup Chopped Pecans

Instructions

Shortbread Crust Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 and line a 8x8 baking pan with parchment paper
  2. Using a large bowl with a hand mixer, beat together the powdered sugar, flour, salt, vanilla and butter until combined and it looks like crumbs
  3. Mold the dough into a ball
  4. Press the dough into the baking dish to form a crust
  5. Bake the crust in the oven for 15-20 minutes

Pecan Pie Filling Directions

  1. Using a medium saucepan over medium to high heat, combine the butter, brown sugar and maple syrup
  2. Stir the mixture until melted and the sugar is dissolved
  3. Bring to a slight boil and allow to boil for 1 minute
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the heavy whipping cream
  5. Fold in the chopped pecans
  6. Pour over the shortbread crust and spread evenly
  7. Bake in the oven for 30-40 or until the mixture is set!
  8. Allow to cool to room temperature before moving into the fridge overnight

Maple Glaze Directions

  1. Using a large bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and heavy whipping cream until combined and smooth
  2. Pour over the cooled bars
  3. Sprinkle the chopped pecans onto the bars
  4. Allow glaze to set for 1 hour before cutting and enjoying!
