Margarita

A Margarita is a classic Mexican cocktail made with tequila, lime juice, and orange liqueur. It's typically served in a glass with a salted rim and can be enjoyed on the rocks, blended, or straight.

Ingredients

Servings
  • ice
  • 2 ounces silver tequila (such as Patrón, Jose Cuervo, or 1800)
  • 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 ounce orange-flavored liqueur (such as Grand Marnier, Gran Gala, Cointreau, or Triple Sec)
  • simple syrup (optional, to taste)
  • Lime slice , for garnish

Instructions

  1. Place granulated sugar or kosher salt on a small plate. Rub the rim of a margarita glass with a lime wedge, then dip it into the sugar or salt, if desired. Add ice to the glass if using.
  2. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add tequila, lime juice, and orange-flavored liqueur. Shake well.
  3. Strain into the prepared glass and garnish with a lime slice.

Notes

  • Storage: I don’t recommend storing Margaritas—this cocktail is best served right away for the freshest flavor.
