Description
Preparation begins by sifting matcha powder to remove lumps, ensuring a smooth texture. Whisking the powder with hot water briskly in an up-and-down motion produces a light froth, essential for the traditional matcha tea experience. Adding warmed coconut milk balances the strong matcha flavor, creating a smooth and creamy drink with subtle coconut notes.
The latte's flavor can be adjusted by varying the amount of matcha powder, milk, and sweetener according to personal preference. Using light or full-fat coconut milk alters the richness of the beverage. This drink serves as a caffeine-infused alternative to coffee with the antioxidant benefits of green tea.
Ingredients
- ½ to 1 teaspoon matcha powder
- ¼ cup water hot
- ¼ cup coconut milk warmed
- maple syrup honey, stevia, or sweetener of choice, optional
Instructions
- Sift your matcha so it is lump-free.
- Spoon the matcha into a large mug. Add the hot water and whisk briskly, in an up and down motion, until frothy - about 30 seconds or so. Add the coconut milk and whisk until well combined.
- Taste and add additional water, coconut milk, and/or sweetener to your liking.
Notes
- Light coconut milk was used here, but full-fat coconut milk can be substituted for a richer and creamier latte.
