Matcha Latté

Matcha Latte is a warm, creamy and sweet drink with a bold green tea flavor. A tasty coffee shop favorite you can make at home in minutes!

Ingredients

  • 4 teaspoons matcha powder
  • 2 tablespoons hot water
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon sugar , or honey

Instructions

  1. Divide the matcha powder between two large coffee mugs and add 1 tablespoon of hot water to each cup. Stir with a fork until it's dissolved and there are no lumps.
  2. Tip: For a smoother latte, use a fine mesh sifter to sift tea powder before mixing with water.
  3. Into a saucepan add the milk on medium heat.
  4. When milk is just about simmering turn heat off, you do not want to boil milk.
  5. Using a milk frother, create a foam while the milk heats up by placing the frother near the surface of the milk, half in the milk, half above it.
  6. Pour the milk over the matcha, using a spoon to hold back the foam.
  7. Stir in the sugar.
  8. Spoon the foam over the cup and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For an iced latte:
  • Tip: For a smoother latte, use a fine mesh sifter to sift tea powder before mixing with water.
  • Divide the matcha powder and hot water between two tall glasses.
  • Stir until dissolved.
  • Divide the milk between the glasses and add sugar to taste, mix well.
  • Fill the glasses with ice and stir one more time before serving.
