Mezcal Negroni Recipe
Description
This Mezcal Negroni Recipe is a twist on the traditional Negroni, replacing gin with mezcal for a smoky depth. Equal parts mezcal, Campari, and sweet vermouth are stirred together over ice to chill and blend. The mixture is then strained over a large ice cube and garnished with a thin slice or dehydrated wheel of orange peel, adding a citrus aroma and subtle brightness.
The cocktail’s smoky quality from mezcal contrasts with the herbal bitterness of Campari and the sweet, rich vermouth, creating a complex and smooth flavor profile. The preparation involves careful stirring rather than shaking to maintain clarity and silky texture.
This drink is best served freshly mixed in single portions, but for larger groups, the ingredients can be combined in equal parts in a pitcher over ice and then poured into glasses. Refresh the garnish on each serving to preserve aroma and presentation.
