Muhammara: Middle Eastern Red Pepper Dip

Muhammara is a smooth, spicy Middle Eastern dip made from roasted red peppers, walnuts, tahini, and pomegranate molasses. The combination creates a rich and tangy flavor with a slightly coarse texture from the nuts and breadcrumbs. It pairs well with pita, sourdough, or fresh vegetables, making it a versatile snack or appetizer choice.

Description

Muhammara: Middle Eastern Red Pepper Dip blends roasted red peppers with walnuts, rusk or breadcrumbs, olive oil, tahini, and pomegranate molasses to create a thick, flavorful spread. The walnuts add a nutty crunch, while the pomegranate molasses provides a distinctive tart sweetness balanced by a touch of chili flakes. Blended together, the ingredients form a rich, textured dip. Its savory and slightly spicy profile complements bread like pita or sourdough and fresh vegetable sticks for dipping. The dip makes a satisfying addition to mezze or casual snacking.

The preparation involves blending all ingredients in a food processor and seasoning to taste, allowing easy customization for heat and salt levels. It's a no-cook recipe once the peppers are prepared, perfect for making ahead or serving immediately.

Variations include substituting grape molasses for pomegranate molasses or white almonds instead of walnuts, altering flavor and texture subtly according to preference.
