Middle Eastern Meatballs (Kofta Kebabs)

Middle Eastern Meatballs, or Kofta Kebabs, are spiced ground beef balls seasoned with a blend of fresh herbs and warming spices like cumin, coriander, cinnamon, and allspice. Grated onion and garlic add moisture and depth. They are formed into uniform shapes and baked until cooked through, resulting in juicy, flavorful meatballs with aromatic seasoning.

Description

This recipe uses a combination of fresh parsley, mint, and minced garlic blended with ground beef to build an herbaceous and savory base. The addition of ground coriander, cumin, cinnamon, allspice, cayenne, and ginger creates a complex spice profile characteristic of Middle Eastern cuisine. Grated onion adds moisture and subtle sweetness to the meat mixture.

The mixture is shaped into quarter-cup-sized meatballs and cooked in a cast iron skillet or sheet pan at 425 degrees Fahrenheit, ensuring an even cook and a slight crust on the exterior. The result is tender and flavorful meatballs suitable as appetizers, main dishes, or part of a mezze platter.
