Mulled wine is a drink prepared from red wine with various hot spices, which is often served on Christmas markets in Europe.

Ingredients
- 4 cups red wine , Bordeaux
- ⅔ cup brown sugar
- 2 sticks cinnamon
- 1 star anise
- ½ teaspoon 4-spice powder
- 2 oranges
- 1 orange zest
- star anise , for decoration
Equipment
- non-stick coated saucepan
- Mug glass cup (or regular glass)
Instructions
- Pour the red wine into a non-stick saucepan and add the brown sugar, 1 star anise, and the cinnamon stick.
- Cut the oranges into slices or quarters. Collect their zest and add it to the pan.
- Simmer gently, without boiling, for 5 minutes.
- Remove the pan from the heat, cover and let steep for 20 minutes.
- Filter and serve hot in a large glass mug (or a regular glass).
- To serve, place an orange slice per glass.
- Decorate with star anise and a cinnamon stick.
