Ingredients
- ¾ cup all purpose flour
- ½ cup cocoa powder
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup semi sweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs plus 1 egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 16 Oreos
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, add the flour, cocoa powder, salt and chocolate chips then mix to combine and set aside.
- In a saucepan set over a low heat add the butter and sugar. Heat until the butter has melted, stirring frequently then remove from the heat.
- In a large mixing bowl, add the eggs and yolk along with the vanilla and beat until combined. Pour in the hot butter mixture and beat again until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients folding them in gently with a rubber spatula. Don't overmix.
- Transfer half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan. Add a layer of Oreos- you should be able to fit 12 if using an 8x8 pan.
- Transfer the remaining brownie mixture on top of the layer of Oreos. Use an off set spatula to gently smooth the batter into an even layer.
- Crush the remaining 4 Oreos and scatter them on top of the brownie batter.
- Put the pan in the middle of the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes after which time the edges of the brownies will look set.
- Remove from the oven and allow the brownies to cool in the pan before turning out and slicing into squares.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- • Oreo Brownies are an indulgent, chocolatey dream come true! Combining therich, fudgy decadence of classic brownies with the irresistible crunch andcreaminess of Oreos, each bite is a perfect balance of textures and flavors. Thecookies soften slightly as they bake, blending into the gooey chocolate, whilestill providing that signature cookie-and-cream delight.
- • When heating the butter and sugar do so until the butter has melted. The sugarwill still be grainy and that is fine.
- • It’s important to very gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.Do not overmix or your brownies will be dry.
- • Instead of adding a layer of Oreos you can crush them and fold them into thebrownie batter and bake as one layer.
- • These brownies bake for 30 minutes, as this will give them the besttexture. For even fudgier brownies, reduce baking by 5-10 minutes. You can check for doneness by inserting a toothpick or a knife into the center;for fudgy brownies, it should come out with moist crumbs, while for cakeyones, it should come out clean.
