Ingredients
- 1 brick (8 oz) cream cheese softened
- 1 ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup brown sugar packed
- 1 cup unsalted butter softened or 2 sticks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 15 Oreo cookies crumbled
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and prepare a large baking sheet (I use an 11x17) with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine cream cheese and sugars. Blend for 2-3 minutes until smooth and until there are no lumps inside the cream cheese.
- Add in butter, vanilla, and sea salt. Blend for another 2-3 minutes until smooth.
- Add in ½ of the four. Mix until smooth and add in the remaining flour and blend again until smooth and fully incorporated.
- Add in the Oreo cookies, serving 2 handfuls for garnishing the tops of the cookies. Mix in using a rubber spatula.
- Use a 2 tablespoon cookie scoop to pack and scoop each cookie. Smooth each scooped cookie by rolling it into a smooth ball in between the palms of your hands before placing it on the baking sheet. Repeat for each cookie.
- Gently press down on the tops of each cookie, creating a 2-3 inch disk shape. Then press additional Oreo Crumbs into the tops of each cookie.
- Bake for 13-15 minutes or until the bottom edges of the cookie begin to turn golden brown.
- When done, allow the cookies to sit on the baking sheet for an additional 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Serve these cookies right away or once cooled to room temperature.
Notes
- Make sure to check the full post above for more about variations, serving suggestions, and storage tips.
- Flatten the Cookies. It’s important to gently press the dough into a disk before baking. They will not spread out when baking and you don't want them to bake as round balls.
- Size of the Cookies. These cookies won’t expand or spread significantly while baking.
- Crumble Don't Crush. Be sure to crumble the Oreo Cookies rather than crushing them into too fine pieces. Large crumbs work best for garnishing the tops of the cookies.
- Room Temperature Ingredients. Make sure your cream cheese and butter are at room temperature to ensure a smoother dough and to avoid lumps in your cookies. All you need to do is take them out from the fridge 30 minutes before you plan to mix the cookies.
- Watch While Cooking. Keep an eye on the cookies while they're in the oven as you're looking for a slightly golden edge and soft center.
