Instructions
- Line a baking tray with parchment paper and set it aside to hold the cookies.
- Place the white chocolate melts in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave on low for 30 seconds. Take it out and stir. Continue to microwave in 15-second intervals until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth. Make sure not to overheat the white chocolate.
- Use a fork to dip an Oreo into the melted chocolate, submerging it completely. Then take it out and lightly tap the fork onto the edge of the bowl to remove the excess chocolate. Put it on the baking tray and repeat until with the rest of the Oreos. Work quickly since the chocolate hardens fast. If the chocolate in the bowl hardens, just put it back in the microwave and heat for 15 seconds.
- Add the candy eyeballs before the chocolate on the cookies hardens. Use tweezers or ensure your hands are completely dry because the eyeballs smear easily.
- Microwave the leftover chocolate until smooth, adding more to the bowl if necessary. Then pour the melted chocolate into a disposable piping bag.
- Use a #2 piping tip, or just snip off the tip of the piping bag. The bandages should be thin, so just cut off a tiny bit and test to see how much chocolate comes out.
- Hold the piping bag firmly and squeeze drizzles of chocolate over the mummies to make bandages. Go in multiple directions and avoid the eyes.
- Put the cookies in the refrigerator for 5-10 minutes to harden the chocolate.
- When you remove it from the fridge, pick each cookie up off the parchment paper and snap off the extra white chocolate. These cookies keep for one day at room temperature or up to 2 weeks in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Notes
- Tips
- Use tweezers to place the eyes or ensure your hands are completely dry, so they don't smear.
- The chocolate sets quickly, so microwave it again if it gets too thick.
- If you don't have a piping bag, use a resealable zipper bag with the corner cut off or drizzle the chocolate with a spoon. Just keep the chocolate drizzles very, very thin.
- Using a disposable piping bag makes cleanup much simpler.
- You can make these mummies with other varieties of cookies. Nutter Butter or Milano cookies are fun.
