Peppermint Espresso Martini Recipe

A Peppermint Espresso Martini blends chilled espresso with peppermint coffee liqueur, vodka, and simple syrup to create a festive cocktail with bright coffee flavors and a refreshing mint finish. A crushed candy cane rim and garnish add a sweet, crunchy touch.

Description

The Peppermint Espresso Martini Recipe uses vodka and peppermint coffee liqueur combined with chilled espresso and simple syrup, shaken vigorously with ice to produce a frothy, chilled drink. The espresso provides a robust coffee flavor balanced by the sweet, minty notes of the liqueur and candy cane garnish.

Rimming the glass with crushed candy canes adds a festive aesthetic and a sweet, minty bite at the first sip. The shaking aerates the mixture, creating a light foam on top that enhances texture and presentation.

This cocktail suits holiday gatherings or occasions where a refreshing coffee-flavored alcoholic drink is desired. Garnishing with a mini candy cane reinforces the peppermint theme and adds visual appeal.

To replicate the foam, machine-brewed espresso is recommended, though alternatives with additional ingredients can also work. Simple syrup can be made from sugar or other sweeteners, allowing some customization of sweetness levels.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 1 ounce peppermint coffee liqueur such as Kahlúa Peppermint Mocha
  • 1 ounce espresso chilled
  • 1 ounce simple syrup
  • candy canes for the rim and garnish, mini

Instructions

  1. If you'd like to rim your glass, dip the edge of the glass in a little simple syrup and then into a shallow bowl filled with crushed candy canes.
  2. Fill your cocktail shaker or jar half full with ice. Add the vodka, peppermint coffee liquor, espresso, and simple syrup.
  3. Secure the lid then shake for about 30 seconds to work up the foam.
  4. Strain into two martini glasses and garnish the cocktails with a mini candy cane.

Notes

  • Use machine-brewed espresso for a better foam; if using regular coffee, add egg white or cocktail foamer to mimic it.
  • Simple syrup can be prepared by dissolving sugar in water; honey or maple syrup also work as sweeteners.
  • Crush candy canes by placing them in a bag and gently hitting with a rubber mallet for a festive rim and garnish.
