Instructions
Prepare the Sides:
- Begin by preparing the side dishes you intend to serve in the bowls. Once the steak gets cooking, it cooks fast so have everything ready before preparing the steak bites.
- Begin by preparing the Pickled Red Onions because they take the longest to make. You can make the pickled red onions up to one week in advance. As an alternative to the pickled red onions, you can make my Asian Cucumber Salad.
- Cook the rice according to the package instructions, and steam or roast the broccoli.
Make Steak Bites on the Stove Top:
- Mix together all of the ingredients for the sauce in a small bowl or measuring cup. Set aside until ready to use.
- When you're ready to cook the steak bites, heat one tablespoon of avocado oil in a large skillet over high heat (I use a 12-inch large nonstick skillet but a cast iron skillet works too). Allow the oil to heat up for a few minutes. We want it to be sizzling hot.
- Carefully transfer the chopped steak bites to the hot skillet and spread them into a single layer.
- Cook steak undisturbed for 2-3 minutes, or until it has a golden brown crust. Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet. It will immediately begin to boil - this is normal. Continue cooking at a full boil over high heat until the sauce has thickened and glazed the steak, about 4 to 5 minutes or until steak reaches your desired level of crisp and the sauce is your desired level of thickness.
Make Crispy Steak Bowls:
- Load up your steak rice bowl by adding your desired amount of rice, broccoli, avocado, pickled red onion, and steak bites. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions and enjoy!
Notes
- *You can replace coconut aminos with teriyaki sauce if you’d like.
