Split Pea and Lentil Soup Recipe with Pork Chops
Description
Split Pea and Lentil Soup with Pork Chops begins by browning pork chops in neutral oil to develop a golden crust, then removing them to sauté diced carrots and onions in the same pot. Returning the pork chops to the pot and adding water, split peas, and lentils, the mixture is brought to a boil and then simmered until the legumes soften, infusing the broth with meaty richness. Seasoning with salt and pepper balances the flavors.
The addition of fresh dill and green onions just before serving imparts a fresh, aromatic note that contrasts with the deep, earthy flavors. The bone-in pork chops provide extra body to the broth during cooking.
This soup can be served as a nourishing main course on its own or with crusty bread. It provides a comforting and filling meal suitable for cooler days.
