Strawberry Mojito Recipe

Strawberry Mojito Recipe is a refreshing cocktail that combines homemade strawberry simple syrup with fresh mint, basil, white rum, and lemon juice. The drink is topped with soda water and garnished with fresh strawberries and herbs, offering a flavorful twist on the classic mojito with a fruity, herbal balance.

Description

The recipe begins with making a strawberry simple syrup by simmering chopped strawberries with sugar and water, then straining to produce a sweet, fruity liquid. Fresh mint and basil leaves are muddled with the syrup to release their aromatic oils, blending herbal freshness with strawberry sweetness.

White rum and fresh lemon juice add brightness and depth, while soda water gives the cocktail its characteristic effervescence. Garnishing with sliced strawberries and additional herbs enhances the presentation and extends the flavor profile.

This mojito variation can be made in larger quantities by scaling ingredients and combining in a pitcher. Leftover strawberry syrup can be stored refrigerated for up to a month and used in desserts or other drinks. The recipe suggests enjoying leftover strawberries on ice cream or yogurt to avoid waste.

  • 3 large basil leaves
  • 1 ounce strawberry simple syrup see below
  • 1 ounce white rum
  • ½ ounce lemon juice fresh
  • 2 ounces soda water
  • strawberry to garnish, sliced strawberries, basil leaves
  • mint
  • basil

Strawberry Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup strawberries chopped

Instructions

  1. Begin by making the strawberry syrup. Combine the water, sugar, and strawberries in a pot and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, mashing the strawberries with a spoon when they're soft.
  2. Remove the pot from the heat, let it cool slightly, then strain it through a fine-mesh sieve. See notes.
  3. Add the mint, basil, and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker and muddle for about 30 seconds. Put a handful of ice into the shaker, add the rum and lemon juice, and stir until it's cold.
  4. Strain your strawberry mojito into a tall, ice-filled glass, top it with soda water, and garnish with strawberries, mint, and basil.

Notes

  • The strawberry simple syrup makes enough for about 8 mojitos and can be refrigerated up to a month.
  • Leftover strawberries from the syrup can be served over ice cream, yogurt, or eaten as is.
  • To prepare a pitcher, use cups for measurements and combine syrup, herbs, rum, lemon juice, and soda water; garnish accordingly.
  • The recipe can be scaled up or down by adjusting ingredient quantities.
