Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup light brown sugar packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups chocolate chips OR chunks

Instructions

  1. Get out and measure your ingredients.
  2. Prepare a cookie sheet with parchment paper (or non-stick spray.
  3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  4. Add flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt to a mixing bowl.
  5. Whisk until combined (about 90 seconds).
  6. In a separate mixing bowl, add butter and sugar.
  7. Mix until fluffy.
  8. Add eggs and extract.
  9. Beat until well combined.
  10. Gradually add flour mixture to egg mixture.
  11. Until all flour is added.
  12. Blend until incorporated.
  13. Fold in the chocolate chips (or chunks).
  14. Stir until chocolate is well distributed throughout the dough.
  15. Scoop the dough into rounded heaping tablespoons, leaving about 2 inches between each one.
  16. Bake in the preheated oven for 12 minutes.
  17. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly, then move to cooling rack.
  18. Repeat until all dough is gone.
  19. Store in an airtight container until needed.
  20. Enjoy every bite!

Notes

  • A hand mixer is your best bet for properly creaming the butter and sugar.
  • Be sure you thoroughly mix your chocolate chips into the dough for even distribution.
  • Transfer the cookies from the pan to the wire rack immediately after baking to prevent overcooking.
