Thanksgiving Margarita
Description
The Thanksgiving Margarita mixes tequila, triple sec, and apple cider shaken with ice, then poured over glasses rimmed with honey and salt for a touch of sweetness and texture contrast. Club soda is added last to provide light effervescence. The rim is prepared by dipping the glass in honey then salt, though sugar or cinnamon sugar can be used as alternatives to customize the flavor.
Garnishes such as cinnamon sticks, fresh sage or thyme, cranberries, and apple slices emphasize seasonal flavors and create a festive presentation. The drink can be made in a pitcher to serve multiple guests and works well as a holiday cocktail centerpiece.
It is important not to shake the club soda with the other ingredients to avoid messy explosions; instead, add it after shaking the other liquids or pour directly into glasses. Serving immediately ensures the carbonation stays fresh.
Ingredients
For the cocktail
- 4 tsp honey
- ¼ cup salt
- 8 oz tequila
- 4 oz triple sec
- 8 oz apple cider
- 8 oz club soda
- ice
For garnish
- cinnamon stick
- sage or thyme, fresh
- cranberries
- apple slices
Instructions
- First, let's line the rims of our glasses with honey and salt. Pour honey and salt on two separate flat plates. Dip the rim of the glass in the honey. Then, immediately after, dip it in the salt. You can also use sugar or cinnamon sugar if you'd like! Then, fill the rimmed glasses with ice and set to the side.
- Add ice, tequila, triple sec, and apple cider into a cocktail shaker (or a pitcher). Shake/Stir it up and pour the mixture evenly into 4 glasses!
- Then, top each glass with club soda. If you're making it in a pitcher, feel free to add it to the pitcher too!
- Garnish each Thanksgiving Margarita how you please. It's up to you how seasonal you want to get! I used apple slices, star of anise, and cinnamon sticks.
Notes
- Add club soda only after shaking the other ingredients to prevent overflow from carbonation.
- Prepare the cocktail in a pitcher with garnishes for easy serving to multiple guests and an attractive presentation.
