Three Korean BBQ Dipping Sauces

Ingredients

Ssamjang (Korean dipping sauce)

  • 2 2 tbsp doenjang fermented soybean paste
  • ½ ½ tbsp Gochujang add more if you like it spicy
  • 2 2 tbsp chopped onion
  • 1 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 1 tsp rice syrup
  • 1 1 clove minced garlic 
  • ½ ½ tsp sesame seeds

Cho ganjang (brisket sauce)

  • 1 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 1 tbsp filtered water
  • ½ ½ tbsp rice vinegar
  • ½ ½ tbsp cane sugar
  • ½ ½ clove garlic thinly sliced
  • ¼ ¼ jalapeno thinly sliced

Sesame oil & salt dipping sauce

  • 1 1 tsp Kosher or sea salt
  • ⅛ tsp black pepper
  • 1 1 tbsp sesame oil

Instructions

Ssamjang (Korean dipping sauce)

  1. In a bowl, combine all the ssamjang ingredients: 2 tbsp doenjang, ½ tbsp gochujang, 2 tbsp chopped onion, 1 tsp sesame oil, 1 tsp rice syrup, 1 clove minced garlic, ½ tsp sesame seeds.
  2. Stir to thoroghly mix. Taste and adjust based on your preference. For more saltiness, add more doenjang. For more heat, add more gochujang. For more sweetness, add more rice syrup or honey.

Cho ganjang (brisket sauce)

  1. In a bowl, combine all the cho ganjang ingredients: 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp filtered water, ½ tbsp rice vinegar, ½ tbsp cane sugar, ½ clove garlic thinly sliced, ¼ jalapeno thinly sliced.

Sesame oil and salt dipping sauce

  1. Combine the 1 tsp kosher or sea salt, and ⅛ tsp black pepper in a small bowl, then divide amongst your dipping bowls.
  2. In each dipping bowl, divide the 1 tbsp sesame oil.
