This walking taco bake recipe with Fritos is a delightful twist on traditional tacos that offers both convenience and delicious flavors in one easy-to-make dish!! Made with Fritos, seasoned meat, and cheese for a hearty, satisfying dinner the whole family will love!

Ingredients
- 1 ½ pounds lean ground beef
- 1 pkg (1 oz) taco seasoning mix or your own taco seasoning to taste
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 3 tablespoons tomato paste
- ¼ cup water
- 1 can (14 oz) black beans rinsed and drained
- 4 cups corn chips Fritos
- 4 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Garnish
- shredded lettuce
- Cilantro for garnish
- chopped tomatoes
- jalapeño slices
- sour cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°.
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and drain any excess oil.
- Add the taco seasoning, chili powder, tomato paste, and water. Mix to combine.
- Next stir in the black beans.
- Add the beef and bean mixture to a 9 x 13 baking dish.
- Top with 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
- Layer on 4 cups of Fritos.
- Add the remaining cheddar cheese to the top of the Fritos.
- Cover the casserole in foil and bake for 20 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for 10 more minutes. Serve immediately with your favorite taco toppings!
Notes
- Prepare all the toppings before the casserole is ready so everyone can enjoy it nice and hot.
- Rinse the black beans before adding them to the dish for a better flavor.
- Cover the casserole with foil during baking to keep it from drying out.
- Drain the meat after cooking!
- You can make the meat mixture ahead and then assemble and bake the dayyou are going to eat it but don’t add the Fritos in advance or they will becomesoggy.
- This casserole is best the day it’s prepared but it can be stored in an airtightcontainer for up to 2 days and reheated in the oven to bring back thecrispness of the Fritos.
