													One of the Turkish words for loquat is 'Yeni Dünya.' In Gaziantep, they make this tasty kebab during loquat season. It's a real centrepiece for your table.

                                Ingredients
- 20 loquats (or up to 35 (depending on size) washed)
 - 500 grams lamb (minced)
 - 1 head garlic (cloves separated & peeled)
 - 1 red capsicum pepper (deseeded & cut into strips )
 - 4 green chillies (optional)
 - 2 dessert spoons pomegranate molasses
 - 1 tablespoon olive oil
 - 1 teaspoon baharat (see notes)
 - 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
 - salt & pepper (to season)
 
Instructions
- Sprinkle your paprika, baharat and a bit of salt and pepper over your lamb mince and knead.
 - Take one loquat, cut in half, lengthways, and remove the stones and membrane.
 - Take a small bit of your lamb and roll a meatball to a size that will sit between the two halves of loquat.
 - Repeat this process until all of your stuffed loquats are fitted snugly into your oven dish.
 - Now drop garlic cloves between the gaps of your loquats and decorate the top of your yeni dünya kebab with red and green peppers.
 - Preheat your oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
 - Drizzle the top of your yeni dünya kebab with olive oil and place in the your oven on the top shelf for 10 minutes.
 - Mix your pomegranate molasses into 75 millilitres of water.
 - After 10 minutes, remove your yeni dünya kebab and turn the oven down to 180 degrees Celsius.
 - Pour your pomegranate solution over the stuffed loquats and return to the oven on the middle shelf.
 - Cook for 20 minutes and remove.
 - Serve immediately.
 
Notes
- Yeni dünya kebab is an impressive table centrepiece when you bake it in the oven.If you want to, you can do this kebab on skewers.
 - Sandwich the meatballs between your loquat halves in the same way and alternate them with red and green peppers.
 - You can drizzle nar ekşisi (pomegranate molasses) over the top as they cook.
 - If you can't get loquat fruit, you can experiment with other fruits such as apricot or chunks of peach and nectarine.
 - Water your pomegranate molasses down a little if you have the syrup style sauce.
 - Baharat is a finely-ground spice mix which can be bought in Turkish shops. You could make your own from a mix of a few of the following: allspice, chili, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, cumin and peppercorns.
