Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- In a large mixing bowl, add the 1 cup self-rising flour and the 1 cup Zero Fat Greek Yogurt. Using your hand or spatula, mix until a dough is formed.
- Sprinkle some flour over a cutting board or any flat surface. Pour the dough over it. The dough will be a bit sticky. You may need to add a bit of flour on your hands to handle the dough. Or some pam spray.
- Divide the dough into four equal parts and roll out each one to form a mini log. Form a circle with it and combine each end to form a round bagel.
- Essentially, you could simply roll the dough into a ball and, using your finger, create a hole in the middle.
- If using egg wash, brush each bagel with some egg wash (from one Egg) and sprinkle with whatever toppings you are using like sesame seeds.
- Place the bagels over a sheet pan lined up with parchment paper and bake them at 350F for 25-30 minutes or until they are browned. Enjoy.
Notes
- Flour: Use self-rising flour if possible. If you do not have self-rising flour, then use 1 cup of all-purpose flour with 1-1/2 teaspoon of baking powder with 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
- Yogurt: Do not use plain yogurt. It has a lot more moisture than Greek Yogurt. If you do, you would have to adjust the amount of flour you are using. Start with 1 Cup and gradually add 2 tablespoons at a time to make sure it's not too sticky to handle.
- All ovens vary. At 350F ours needed 25 minutes. It may take anywhere between 25-32 minutes until they turn golden brown.
- Toppings are optional and do not add any calories. Like sesame seeds, poppy seeds, or everything but the bagel seasonings.
- Egg wash. This will help achieve that golden top and allow the seasonings to stick to the bagel. You can use a small amount of melted butter instead.
