Ingredients
Air Fryer Chicken Fajitas Ingredients
- 1 pound (450g) skinless chicken breast cut into chunks
- 2 bell peppers deseeded and sliced
- 1 onion peeled and sliced
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon fajita seasoning make this easy Homemade Fajita Seasoning Mix
Instructions
Air Fryer Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees F / 180 degrees C.
- Combine the sliced chicken, onion slices, bell pepper slices, olive oil, and fajita seasoning in a large mixing bowl until everything is evenly coated.
- Add the chicken mixture to the air fryer basket and air fry for 14-18 minutes, tossing halfway through cooking time.
- Serve air fryer chicken fajitas as a salad (to keep it low carb) or as classic fajitas with toppings of your choice and tortillas on the side.
Oven Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F / 200 degrees C / gas 6.
- Combine sliced chicken, onion, bell pepper, olive oil, and fajita seasoning in a large bowl and make sure everything is fully coated.
- Add the fajita mixture to a rimmed sheet pan and cook for 18-24 minutes, turning halfway through using a large spoon or tongs.
Notes
- Try and make sure the chicken strips are all the same size so they cook evenly and at the same rate. Use a sharp knife to slice them.
- Cook time depends on the size of the chicken strips, onion slices, and bell pepper slices. So if you cut them small, then you might want to cook them for a couple of minutes less than this recipe states. Also, smaller pieces will char more than larger pieces.
- Toss the fajitas or shake the air fryer basket 3-4 times during the cooking time so everything has the opportunity to char for that delicious flavor.
- The meat is completely cooked through when the chicken reaches an internal temperature of at least 165 degrees F / 74 degrees C.
- If short on time or spices, just use a mix of paprika and cumin to make this.
- Feel free to double or triple the recipe to serve a crowd. But if you double the recipe, make sure to use an air fryer that is large enough to air fry the amount, otherwise it will steam, not fry. You may need to cook this in two batches.
- If you are going to serve these with tortillas, then do so with warmed tortillas.
- Storage - keep leftovers in an airtight container inside the fridge for up to 5 days.
- There is 1 WW Blue Plan SmartPoint in a serving of this.
