Air Fryer Fish Tacos with Mango Salsa

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds mahi mahi
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • ½ cup Panko bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 8 tortillas
  • your favorite taco toppings

For the salsa:

  • 1 Mango
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • ½ garlic clove minced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer at 400 degrees F for 3 minutes.
  2. Mix the chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.
  3. Pat the fish dry with a paper towel. Brush the fillet with oil and dip it in the panko bread crumbs.
  4. Put the fish in the air fryer basket and sprinkle the spice mixture on top.
  5. Air fry at 400 degrees F for 8-12 minutes until the fish reaches 140 degrees F internally.
  6. While the fish cooks, dice the mango and combine it with the cilantro, lime juice, and minced garlic.
  7. Once the fish is cooked, flake it with a fork and add it to the tortillas. Top with mango salsa and any other toppings you like, such as sour cream, lime wedges, or jalapenos.

Notes

  • While this recipe calls for mahi mahi, you can use any firm white fish, like cod or halibut.
  • Make sure you pat the fish dry with paper towels so the coating sticks.
  • Leave some space between the fish pieces in your air fryer basket. When I try to cook too much at once, the pieces don't get that nice golden-brown crust.
  • Start checking the internal temperature for around 10 minutes. Different air fryers can cook at slightly different rates.
  • For the best taco experience, warm your tortillas briefly in the microwave or in a dry skillet. I like wrapping them in slightly damp paper towels and microwaving them for 30 seconds.
