Ingredients
Apples
- 10 medium baking apples peeled, cored, and cut into 16 wedges each
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoons ground nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon allspice
Crisp Topping
- 2 ¼ cups rolled oats
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ cup brown sugar packed
- ¾ cup salted butter melted
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 F.
- In a large bowl, toss together apple wedges and sugar.
- Add lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. Toss to combine.
- Pour apples into a 9x13-inch baking dish. Set aside.
- To make the topping, whisk together oats, flour, and sugars.
- Stir in butter until just combined.
- Press together to make crumbles, and sprinkle over apples.
- Place baking dish on a rimmed baking sheet.
- Bake for about 45-55 minutes, or until apples are soft and topping is lightly browned.
Notes
- Apples: Baking apples, like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp, work best.
- Granulated sugar: Feel free to use more or less sugar to taste.
- Brown sugar: Light brown sugar or dark brown sugar will work.
- Butter: I use salted butter. If you're using unsalted butter, add 1/4 teaspoon salt along with the butter.
