For Mediterranean-Inspired,

  • 350 g tofu crumbled, firm, package
  • 2 tbsp. corn starch
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. oregano
  • 1 tbsp. basil
  • 2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. black pepper

For Taco Seasoning-Inspired,

  • 350 g tofu crumbled, firm, package
  • 1 ½ tbsp. corn starch
  • 1 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 ½ tbsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp. onion powder
  • 1 tbsp. onion minced
  • 1 ½ tsp. chili powder
  • 1 ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. harissa seasoning
  • ½ tsp. red chili flakes
  • ½ tsp. black pepper

For ‘Bacon Bit’-Inspired,

  • 175 g tofu ½ pack, crumbled, firm
  • 3 tbsp. maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp. corn starch
  • 1 tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp. liquid smoke
  • 2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 2 tsp. onion minced
  • 1 tsp. smoked paprika
  • 1 ½ tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. black pepper

For ‘Beef Stew’-Inspired

  • 350 g tofu crumbled, firm, package
  • 1 ½ tbsp. corn starch
  • 1 tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 tbsp. tomato paste
  • 1 ½ tbsp. garlic powder
  • 1 ½ tbsp. oregano
  • 1 ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cumin
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 ½ tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. black pepper
  • ½ tsp. red chili flakes
  • 3 bay leaf

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400F and prepare a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Drain the excess water from the tofu package and crumble into a medium-sized bowl.
  3. Add all of the remaining ingredients and mix together.
  4. Set onto the prepared tray and bake for 20 - 30 minutes until golden brown. Make sure to stir halfway through.
  5. Enjoy the tofu with any dish you desire or eat life popcorn- it’s the best high protein snack!

Notes

  • Notes You can customize your tofu and use any spices, herbs, or sauces you wish! Your base ingredients are tofu, olive oil, and cornstarch- the rest is a ‘choose your own adventure story!’ Make sure to add more cornstarch if you are adding more liquid, otherwise have fun with it! Use this recipe as a plant-based replacement for meat in any recipe! Bake the tofu according to how soft or crispy you desire. Store the popcorn tofu in the fridge for 3 – 5 days.
