Banana Pudding
Description
Banana Pudding starts by preparing instant vanilla pudding mix with cold milk, then chilling it briefly. Separately, cream cheese is beaten with sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract until smooth, then gently folded with whipped topping for lightness. This mixture is combined with the pudding to create a creamy filling.
The pudding is assembled by layering the creamy mixture alternately with vanilla wafer cookies and sliced ripe bananas, creating contrast between the creamy pudding, crunchy wafers, and fresh fruit. The layering is repeated multiple times, finishing with a top layer of pudding.
Covered and refrigerated overnight, the flavors meld and the cookies soften slightly without losing all texture, resulting in a rich yet tender dessert. It is often served chilled as a cool, sweet finish to meals or gatherings.
