Banana Pudding

Banana Pudding blends instant vanilla pudding mix with milk, sweetened condensed milk, and cream cheese folded together with whipped topping. Layered with vanilla wafer cookies and ripe banana slices, then chilled overnight, it develops a creamy, smooth texture with a balance of sweet pudding and fresh fruit flavors. The dessert is soft and luscious, combining crunchy cookie layers with mellow bananas.

Description

Banana Pudding starts by preparing instant vanilla pudding mix with cold milk, then chilling it briefly. Separately, cream cheese is beaten with sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract until smooth, then gently folded with whipped topping for lightness. This mixture is combined with the pudding to create a creamy filling.

The pudding is assembled by layering the creamy mixture alternately with vanilla wafer cookies and sliced ripe bananas, creating contrast between the creamy pudding, crunchy wafers, and fresh fruit. The layering is repeated multiple times, finishing with a top layer of pudding.

Covered and refrigerated overnight, the flavors meld and the cookies soften slightly without losing all texture, resulting in a rich yet tender dessert. It is often served chilled as a cool, sweet finish to meals or gatherings.

  3. Gently fold the cream cheese mixture into the prepared pudding, ensuring a smooth and uniform consistency.
  4. Pour a layer of the pudding mixture over the cookies, spreading it evenly.
  5. Add another layer of vanilla wafer cookies, followed by another layer of the pudding mixture.
  6. Repeat the layering process, alternating between the crushed vanilla wafer cookies and pudding mixture until you have three layers, ending with a layer of vanilla pudding on top.
  7. After completing the layering process, cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate the banana pudding overnight. (Do not decorate until the next day) This extended refrigeration allows the flavors set.
