- Preheat the oven to 300 F.
- In a large bowl whisk together egg yolks and 4 tablespoon of sugar. Slowly add orange infused cream and whisk until no lumps remain.
- Strain custard through a fine mesh strainer.
- Place empty ramekins in a large rectangular baking dish and distribute Creme Brûlée among the ramekins.
- Fill the baking dish with the boiling water halfway up the ramekins and carefully transfer it into the oven.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes until Creme Brûlée is slightly wobbly in the center.
- Remove Creme Brûlée from the oven, let it cool completely and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- When ready to serve, sprinkle 1-2 tablespoons of sugar on top of Creme Brûlée and using a culinary blowtorch melt the sugar to create a brown crust. (See the notes for the alternative to the blowtorch)
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- Crispy Crust: If you don't have a culinary blowtorch, here's how you can create this amazing crispy crust.
- Different Extracts: While this recipe uses vanilla extract, you can definitely play around with other flavors. Almond extract or even a hint of orange blossom water can add a twist to the traditional recipe.
- Storage: Orange creme brulee can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. However, for the best texture and flavor, it is recommended to consume it within 24 hours.
- Preheat the oven to broil.
- Sprinkle Creme Brûlée with 1-2 tablespoon of sugar and place under the broiler for about 2 minutes or until sugar melts. Be careful, as the ramekins will be hot.
