Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a baking sheet and set aside.
- In a small bowl, add paprika, salt, black pepper, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.
- Season patties with as much of the seasoning as desired on both sides of the patties. Place in the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle with a little more salt and pepper and bake for 20-25 minutes (or until internal temp is 160 degrees).
- Add cheese slices and bake for one more minute if desired.
- Remove from oven and serve warm.
Notes
- Recipe Tips.
- Prep ahead of time. Season and shape the patties the day before and keep them covered in the fridge until baking.
- Store. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for about 2 days. Reheat in the oven, on the stovetop, or in the microwave.
- Toast the buns. Apply a thin layer of butter or olive oil to each slice and place cut side down on a hot griddle, or cut side up in a toaster oven or broil in the oven. Heat until warm and toasted, about 30-90 seconds.
- We like to add 1-2 teaspoons of seasoning for every pound of ground beef. Adjust depending on your flavor preferences.
- For the juiciest, most flavorful burger, use 85/15 or 90/10 ground beef. If you use 80/20 beef, use a wire rack to keep them lifted out of the excess grease.
- Our favorite toppings to serve on the side include bacon, sliced tomatoes, pickles, lettuce, and red onion.
- If you are shaping your own patties, you can mix the seasoning in and then shape them into patties. Create a shallow indentation in the center of the patty to keep the center from puffing up too much.
