Burrata Caprese Salad

This Burrata Caprese Salad centers on a creamy burrata cheese surrounded by a variety of sliced and halved tomatoes and fresh basil leaves. Lightly dressed with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar, it balances the richness of the cheese with bright, acidic notes from the tomatoes and dressing. The fresh basil adds a hint of herbal aroma, while the seasoning of kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper enhances the flavors. It serves as a simple yet fresh starter or side during warmer months or light meals.

Description

The Burrata Caprese Salad combines the soft, creamy texture of burrata cheese with the fresh juiciness of sliced large tomatoes and halved cherry tomatoes. The olive oil and balsamic vinegar drizzle introduce a gentle richness and tang that complement the natural sweetness of the tomatoes. Fresh basil leaves not only contribute a subtle herbal note but also add visual appeal to the dish. Seasoned simply with kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper, the salad highlights the quality and freshness of its ingredients.

The salad is assembled by placing a whole burrata ball on a platter and arranging tomato slices and basil leaves around it. The light drizzle of oil and vinegar ensures that the salad is moistened without being saturated, preserving the distinct textures of each component. This dish can be served as an elegant appetizer or a refreshing side to accompany a meal focused on fresh and seasonal produce.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 burrata cheese ball
  • 3 tomato sliced, large
  • 1 cup cherry tomato halved
  • basil leaves handful, large
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar or balsamic vinegar glaze
  • kosher salt
  • black pepper fresh cracked

Instructions

  1. Place burrata ball in the middle of a platter and arrange tomato slices and bail leaves around the cheese.
  2. Drizzle everything with a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar. You don't want to drown the salad in dressing just enough to moisten everything and bring in flavor.
  3. Sprinkle on kosher salt and black pepper.
