Ingredients
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg white
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 pound pecans
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F.
- In a small bowl combine the first 3 ingredients. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk the water with the egg white until airy and light. Add the pecan halves and stir to coat.
- Sprinkle the sugar mixture over the pecans. Mix together evenly and spread evenly onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake for about 40 minutes, until pecans are browned and the sugar has caramelized. Be sure to stir the pecans regularly as they cook.
Notes
- Add your favorite spices like pumpkin pie spice, ginger, or apple pie spice.
- Try a small pinch of cayenne pepper or 1 teaspoon of vanilla extra added to the egg.
- Swap out the pecans for other nuts like cashews, almonds, or walnuts.
- Add candied pecans to salad (especially great with kale winter salad or spinach salad).
- Add them to a bowl of yogurt, crush them over a breakfast smoothie or smoothie bowl.
- Drizzle with dark chocolate to take them to the next level.
- Place them in a mason jar and tie it with a ribbon as a nice homemade gift.
