Cayt's Cowboy Butter

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup salted butter softened
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 cloves minced garlic 
  • 1 tablespoon whole grain mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes optional for added heat
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the softened 1/2 cup salted butter, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 4 cloves minced garlic,1 tablespoon whole grain mustard, 1 teaspoon Worcestershire, 1 teaspoon smoked paprika,1 teaspoon dried parsley, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Use a fork to mix until evenly combined and smooth.
  2. Use from the bowl, or shape into a log on a piece of plastic wrap and wrap up tightly. Let it firm up by refrigerating. Then cut coin shape slices to use as a compound butter.
  3. This butter can be used to season vegetables, add a spoonful on top of a steak after cooking, or dip bread into a melted cowboy butter.

Notes

  • Blending the butter with a fork is easy and gets the ingredients mixed together very well. Alternatively, you can use a hand mixer or standing mixer with the paddle attachment. But you'll need to scrape down the sides of the bowl often.
