Cheesy Baked Ravioli Casserole
Description
Cheesy Baked Ravioli Casserole features layers of cooked ground beef mixed into a tangy combination of pasta sauce and diced tomatoes seasoned with oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and a touch of sugar. The recipe uses refrigerated or frozen cheese ravioli that become tender when baked. Shredded mozzarella and Colby jack cheeses add creamy, mild flavors, while freshly grated Parmesan tops the dish with a slightly sharp finish. Baking covered allows the sauce and cheeses to meld evenly.
The casserole presents a rich and hearty texture, with browned cheese contrasting the soft ravioli and saucy meat. The tomato-based sauce brings moisture and acidity, balancing the richness of the meats and cheeses. This dish works well served as a standalone main course for dinner.
For convenience, the casserole can be assembled and refrigerated before baking, adding extra cooking time. You can also enhance the dish by incorporating vegetables like frozen spinach, zucchini, or bell peppers. Choosing your preferred ravioli filling—beef, cheese, or spinach—allows flavor variation without changing the overall method.
