Cheesy Garlic Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf 16 oz French Bread loaf, cut in half lengthwise
  • ½ c. salted butter softened
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 ¼ c. shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • c. finely shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 Tbsp minced fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. In a small bowl mix together butter, garlic, salt, pepper, and cheese. Mix until combined.
  3. Cut the baguette in half lengthwise and split open.
  4. Spread the cheese mixture over the top of each cut side of the baguette.
  5. Place, cut side up, on a baking sheet.
  6. Bake at 400 degrees for 12 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
  7. Broil 1-2 minutes for a crispier bread and more golden cheese if desired, watch closely.
  8. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with minced parsley, slice and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Cheese Tip: You can use any good melting cheese for this recipe. Try shredded cheddar cheese, Gruyere, or provolone to change the flavor.
  • Flavor Tip: You can also add different dried herbs to the butter mixture. Half to a whole teaspoon would work. Try dried basil, thyme, rosemary, or Italian seasoning.
  • Prep Tip: If your bread is done but you’re not ready to serve it, just keep it in a low oven to keep it warm.
  • Storage Tip: Keep leftover cheese bread in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will keep well for two to three days.
