Cherry Crisp
Description
This Cherry Crisp begins with cherry pie filling spread evenly in a buttered casserole dish. The topping combines quick-cooking oats, all-purpose flour, light brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and melted unsalted butter, mixed until crumbly. This mixture is spread over the cherry filling to create a textured, crunchy contrast to the soft fruit underneath.
Baking at 350°F for 35 to 40 minutes melds the flavors and browns the topping to a golden crisp. The dessert is ideally served warm, often alongside vanilla ice cream, which complements the tartness of the cherries and the buttery crispness of the topping.
You can adjust the amount of topping to your preference by halving the recipe if you prefer less crispy coverage.
Ingredients
- 1 batch cherry pie filling or 1 (21-ounce) can cherry pie filling, homemade
- ⅔ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- ⅔ cup oats quick-cooking
- ⅔ cup light brown sugar
- 6 tablespoons butter melted, unsalted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter a 2-quart casserole dish.
- Pour cherry pie filling into the prepared dish.

Notes
- If you prefer less topping, you can reduce the crisp topping amount by half.
- Warm serving is recommended to highlight the contrast between the crisp topping and the juicy cherry filling.
