This cherry dump cake uses fresh or frozen cherries and a quick homemade cake mix. It’s still as easy as dump and go with the best flavor possible!

Ingredients
- 2 pounds pitted cherries fresh or frozen
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup salted butter cold
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly grease a 9x13 pan.
- Place cherries into the prepared pan. Toss with cornstarch, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well mixed. Sprinkle this mixture over the cherries in an even layer.
- Sprinkle brown sugar on top.
- Use a cheese grater to grate the cold butter. Sprinkle the grated butter over the top of the brown sugar layer.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the top is golden.
Notes
- Pro Tip: The nature of dump cakes make it difficult to spread your flour mixture evenly. High spots may not mix with liquids and remain raw. If you notice raw spots while baking, simply use a spoon to flatten out the high spot out so it can absorb some liquids.
