Chicken Cordon Bleu Sauce

This Chicken Cordon Bleu Sauce is a creamy, buttery accompaniment made with butter, chicken broth, and whipping cream thickened with cornstarch and seasoned with chicken bouillon and black pepper. With an optional hint of basil for added aroma, it creates a smooth, rich sauce that complements the milder flavors of Chicken Cordon Bleu. It is cooked by simmering and reducing ingredients to develop a balanced creamy texture perfect for coating the dish.

Description

The Chicken Cordon Bleu Sauce recipe combines butter, chicken broth, and chicken bouillon granules reduced by simmering to concentrate flavors. A mixture of cornstarch and heavy whipping cream is whisked in to thicken the sauce smoothly. The final seasoning includes black pepper, with optional basil to brighten the sauce. The cooking process involves gentle simmering and continuous whisking to achieve a thick yet delicate sauce consistency without lumps.

This sauce enhances Chicken Cordon Bleu by adding moisture and richness without overpowering the rolled chicken and ham components. Its creamy nature works well spooned over the plated entree, offering a comforting texture and subtle savory notes from the chicken broth base.

Serve this sauce immediately over freshly cooked Chicken Cordon Bleu. The silky texture and mild seasoning ensure the focus remains on the layered flavors of the main dish without excess heaviness.
