Churrasco in the Air Fryer

Churrasco is delicious and popular Brazilian meat cooked over a grill or flame. While an air fryer is not the traditional method for making churrasco, it's certainly a quick and easy cooking option. For this Churrasco in an Air Fryer recipe, I used flank steak which has a rich, hearty flavor as well as moist and tender texture. With just a couple simple steps, you can cook this cut of meat in less than 20 minutes and have a delicious main dish for dinner without the fuss of a grill!

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400 F degrees for about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Cut (or not) the Flank Steak: depending on the basket size of your air fryer, you may need to cut your flank steak into pieces. You will want 1 large or 2-4 smaller pieces of flank steak to fit into the basket without touching the sides or each other. TIP: If it does not all fit into the air fryer at once, you can save the remaining steak in an airtight container in the freezer for 3-4 days or in the freezer for up to 9 months.
  3. Season the Flank Steak with a generous amount of salt and pepper to taste on both sides. You can also add any additional seasonings or herbs you prefer.
  4. Lightly coat the air fryer basket with olive oil or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  5. Place the seasoned flank steak in the preheated air fryer basket. Make sure to leave some space between the pieces to allow for proper air circulation.
  6. Cook the flank steak in the air fryer for approximately 8-14 minutes (flipping it halfway through the cooking time), depending on your desired level of doneness and the thickness of the steak. For a medium-rare flank steak, cook it for around 8-10 minutes, 10-12 minutes for medium and 12-14 minutes for more well-done.
  7. Once the steak is cooked to your preferred level of doneness, remove it from the air fryer and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute and results in a more tender and flavorful steak.
  8. Slice the flank steak against the grain into thin strips. This helps make the steak more tender. Serve it immediately and enjoy!
