Classic Aperol Spritz

The Classic Aperol Spritz mixes bitter-sweet Aperol, dry prosecco, and sparkling water over crushed ice, garnished with an orange slice. The result is a bright orange, lightly bitter, effervescent cocktail with herbaceous and citrus notes. This spritz is a refreshing apéritif served chilled in a wine glass, balancing bitter, sweet, and sparkling elements.

Description

The cocktail begins with generously filling a wine glass with crushed ice, which chills the drink and dilutes it slightly over time. Pouring in 2 ounces of Aperol provides the distinctive bright orange color and flavors characterized by bitter orange, herbs, and a touch of vanilla. Adding 3 ounces of dry prosecco contributes a sparkling dryness and fruity bubbles.

A splash of sparkling water on top lightens the drink and adds further effervescence. The final garnish of an orange slice complements the citrus notes of the Aperol and adds a fresh aroma. The combined ingredients create a balanced cocktail that is slightly bitter, gently sweet, and sparkling, typically enjoyed as an apéritif before meals but can be sipped throughout dining.

Serve immediately after preparation to retain the sparkling texture and chilled temperature. The quality of prosecco and Aperol affects the overall flavor profile.
