Cointreau Rose Cocktail
Description
This cocktail starts by filling a tall glass halfway with ice, then adding a measured shot of Cointreau, an orange-flavored liqueur that delivers bright, sweet citrus aromas. The glass is topped with sparkling rosé wine, which adds effervescence, red fruit notes, and a lively finish. Stirring briefly combines the layers, mellowing the alcohol while maintaining vibrancy.
Garnishing with fresh chopped strawberries, an orange slice, and a mint sprig introduces fresh fruit sweetness and herbal freshness, enhancing the aroma and visual presentation. The drink balances the warmth and sweetness of the liqueur with the crisp, bubbly character of the rosé.
For variations, a stronger drink can be made by adding a full shot of Cointreau, or by substituting plain rosé wine with sparkling rosé. Adding soda water to still rosé offers a similar refreshing quality. This cocktail is suited for serving chilled during warm weather or at celebrations where a light, fruity drink is desired.
Ingredients
- 1/2 Cointreau shot
- sparkling rosé wine
- ice
- strawberries to garnish, chopped
- Orange slices to garnish
- mint sprig
Instructions
- Fill up a tumbler or wine glass halfway with ice. Pour in half a shot of Cointreau liqueur (add a full shot if you want it a little stronger but try it first).
- Top up with sparkling rose wine to an acceptable level....I'll let you be the judge and stir.
- Finally add a large slice of orange, chopped strawberries and a sprig of mint. Tip: I also added some edible flowers to make it extra pretty.
Notes
- If sparkling rosé is unavailable, use regular rosé wine and top with soda water for a lighter effervescence.
- Adjust Cointreau amount according to preference; start with half a shot and increase for stronger flavor.
- Fresh fruit garnishes like chopped strawberries and orange slices add aroma and visual appeal but can be omitted if unavailable.
- Mint sprigs contribute a fresh herbal note; edible flowers can enhance presentation without affecting taste.
