Creamy Grape Salad
Description
Creamy Grape Salad starts by beating cream cheese with granulated sugar and vanilla until smooth and fluffy. Sour cream is added to lighten the mixture, resulting in a silky, sweet cream base. Washed, dried, and firm seedless red and green grapes are gently folded in to evenly coat them without bruising. A sprinkle of brown sugar on top adds an extra touch of sweetness and subtle molasses notes.
The grapes provide a juicy burst amid the creamy sauce, creating a pleasing texture contrast. Chilling the salad for several hours melds flavors and firms the mixture. Optional chopped toasted pecans add texture and nutty flavor when sprinkled just before serving.
This salad suits a warm weather meal or potluck contribution. It pairs well with barbecue or picnic fare and can be prepared ahead for convenience.
Ingredients
- 8 ounces cream cheese room temperature
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract pure
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 cups red grapes washed and dried, seedless, firm
- 2 cups green grapes washed and dried, seedless, firm
- ⅓ cup light brown sugar
- ⅓ cup pecans lightly toasted - optional, chopped
Instructions
- In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment or in a large bowl with an electric mixer, beat the cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla on medium speed for 5 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the bowl every couple of minutes to make sure everything is incorporated. Add in sour cream and mix until smooth and creamy.
- Gently fold the grapes into the cream cheese mixture until they are evenly coated. Sprinkle the top with brown sugar. Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours. If desired, top with chopped pecans just before serving
