Spicy White Radish Salad
Description
Spicy White Radish Salad combines thinly shredded fresh white radish with a blend of seasonings including red chili powder, vinegar, sugar, and both sesame and vegetable oils. The preparation begins by salting the shredded radish to draw out moisture and tone down any excessive saltiness through rinsing if needed. The salad dressing is created by mixing sugar, sesame oil, and vinegar, then layering chili powder over the radish followed by hot vegetable oil to release the chili's aroma and flavor. Roasted sesame seeds add a subtle nutty note, and green onion can be added for garnish. The salad can be served immediately or refrigerated for about two hours to develop a deeper taste and firmer texture.
Ingredients
- 250 g white radish fresh
- ½ tablespoon red chili powder
- ½ tablespoon vinegar
- ½ tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- green onion optional, for decorating
Instructions
- Clean white radish and cut into really thin shreds.I recommend using a tool for beginner.
- Sprinkle salt on those shreds and mix well. Put aside for 10 minutes. Then squeeze the water out. Have a taste here. If the shreds are too salty, wash it with purified water and then squeeze the water out.
- In a large mixing bowl, add sugar, sesame oil and vinegar in with white radish shreds and mix thoroughly.
- Spread the chili pepper powder on the surface of the white radish shreds. Heat up 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in pan and then pour the hot oil on the chili powder. Mix everything well.
- Garnish some roasted sesame seeds and green onion before serving.
- Serve directly or refrigerate for about 2 hours.
